Frame Set in small Victorian gilt wood and gesso frame
Condition Good original condition. Sound paintwork. A very small pin hole to the bottom of the board. A few minor marks to frame in align with age

 


 

Small humorous hunting sketch, painted in oil on board, dating from the nineteenth century.

In the background a huntswoman, dressed in black with flowing blonde hair and riding sidesaddle on a chestnut steed, is leaping over a crumbling stone wall. The rider in the foreground, dressed in scarlet with white breeches and brown leather topped black boots, has pulled up his mount to make chase. Titled to the reverse "Affair Leap".

Delicately painted with quick but fine brushstrokes in a lively pallete on an ochre grtound

Set in an antique wood and gesso gilt frame
