Antique Walnut Campaign Brass Bound Writing Box

Offered for sale an early nineteenth century writing box. Walnut case with inlaid brass shield form motif to the top. Matching decoration to the front escutcheon plate. Brass bound corners & sides. Top opens to writing slope with with black tooled leather surface. Compartments for inkwells & pens.

Offered in good condition. Sound structure and a lovely mellow colour and patina to the wood. Crack to the top running horizontally. Few small marks to wood. Opening on original brass hinges, lock & key. Writing surface within with tape to the fold. Baize lining to underside.
