Lovely quality still life of flowers with mandolin by Alfred Magne
Desire Alfred Magne was born in Vienne and studied at l'ecole Municipale des Beaux-Arts in Poitier and in Paris under the tutelage of Cabanel and James Bertrand. Magne became well known for his still life, genre, animals and flowers. He exhibited extensively including at the Paris Salon from 1879 onwards and became a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais in 1894.
