Very fine mid to late 19th century 8 pointed star brooch

Centrally set with an old European cut diamond, measuring approx 4.7 x 4.8 mm, depth 2.64 mm. Estimated carat weight 0.38 carat, assessed clarity SI2, assessed colour G/H. Centre diamond is surrounded by 40 old Swiss/old 8 and old European cut diamonds, measuring between 1.7 and 2.8 mm in diameter and 15 rose cut diamonds, measuring between 1.4 and 1.5 mm in diameter (one vacant setting)

Estimated total carat weight of the surrounding diamonds 2.08 carat, clarity ranges from VS to I1. 

Rub over, pinch and beaded settingsin white with yellow under bezel with a wire hookat the back for a pendant bail and detachable pin and safety catch which can be removed, tests as sterling silver setting under the bezel and pin testing as approx 15ct gold
